About Sandra

I care a lot about people and my surroundings. Being an artist is at the heart of my soul. It has been my passion for several decades. Art chose me … either with the gentle stroke of a paint brush, a beautiful puddle of paint or the glorious depth of resin; the creation of beauty in art can be extremely therapeutic for every one of us. I love what I do and love the outcome of what can be created with my hands and my heart. I want to move my viewer in a way that transforms their day or mood into something positive and inspiring.

My Love for Sharing Acrylic & Resin Art with Everyone

As a child, I sat on my grandfather’s lap and watched him paint. This piqued my interest; and my love for art blossomed from those intimate memories. I credit God for the talent that I am blessed with and my love for people. I am truly enjoying helping other artists show their light and hope thru their art in my Facebook Art Healing Hearts Auctions Group. It brings me joy to see others flourish and thrive! I receive continual affirmation that I am doing what I was created to do.  Art truly has the power to heal us and touch us in a life-giving way.

Inspiring Others Through Self Expression

I embrace a passion for color, love, and positive energy through my artwork. Art is therapeutic and inspirational to me and those around me. I feel that color and the beauty of nature speak a deep and uplifting language. Most recently, I am enjoying stepping into a new phase of my art journey, sharing hope and courage to those who have been hurt or lost through by work, especially the Kintsugi inspired pieces. Kintsugi is a 400+ year old Japanese tradition on mending broken pottery with gold. This signifies strength and greater value in its’ imperfections. This is a beautiful metaphor of our life’s journeys. I want to share more of that

The Featured Art Story

Life most definitely throws us curveballs.  No one is left unscathed.  I asked God after much prayer and thinking about the piece I wanted to paint for this show.  God never plans for bad things in our lives to happen.  This includes, to name a few: anxiety, fear, depression, loss of loved ones, addiction, disappointment, abandonment, sickness and cancer, divorce, unemployment, loss of relationships.  These can all impact our lives (believer or non-believer) and really set us back.

Jeremiah 29:11  "For I know the plans I have for you,' declares the Lord, 'plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you a hope and a future."

I want to express his love in the most joyful way.  Blessings poured out onto us...  overflowing.  Many of us feel that we have often been walking through a dry desert for sometimes, many years.  But God is always there, always waiting to reveal His Glory.  I wanted to show that His Love and Blessings are always available to us, never ending.  Step into the flow and receive. Even in bad times, we can feel Joy that is inexplicable.

Proverbs 3: 5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths."

Story: Matthew 6:28-33  Be anxious for nothing.  God understands your needs.  If you seek him first, all of these things will be added to you.  We are reminded of the beauty of nature and how the flowers in the fields and the birds of the air do not worry, because they are provided for.  We are so much more valuable than they are.  This should provide us with infinite joy.

Story: The Japanese tradition of mending broken pottery with gold, highlights imperfections rather than hiding them. “Kintsugi”, or joining with gold, is a 400-year tradition that shows that broken objects when repaired can be made even stronger, more resilient, and even beautiful. This philosophy can apply to more than just mending objects, it can apply to people, as well.

This is an allegory of the mending in us, as humans, as well as pottery. The understanding is to heal and show that you are a better version of you with the golden cracks. It also represents beauty in the “incomplete” and most simple way.

This tradition also referred to as “Wabi-Sabi” translates to elegant beauty in simplicity over the passing of time.  This being an acceptance of flaws and all.  We can accept the uncertainty and imperfection in all of us and celebrate the new strengths we have gained embracing a more positive attitude.  “Kansha” is the act of expressing gratitude for the good and bad that we experience in life, the perfect and the imperfect.  So, in this manner, Kintsugi shows that imperfections can become beautiful and yet very useful, and so it relates in our lives.  We can learn to live in the present, seeing positivity in every situation which will allow us to live happier, more peaceful and meaningful lives. “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” Psalm 147:3
